Hole In One
Congratulations to our two members who each got a hole in one this year:  Sherry Linkler and               Marilyn Stagg.

Covid Reminder:

Remember to stand 6’ apart when out on the golf course.

Rules:

The 15th Hole, right side, lower fairway It’s frustrating on 15 when your ball ends up down below            into the trees and bushes.  Keep your wits about you and remember these 3 options.

[Note that this is NOT a penalty area. (no red or yellow stakes).]

1.    The Views local desert rule (2 Stroke Penalty):   Mark the edge of the fairway laterally from where the ball lies (or your best estimate of its location).  Measure 2 club lengths laterally (no nearer the hole) from that point.  This is the area to drop your ball.
2.    Declare your ball unplayable (1 Stroke Penalty). You have 3 options:
A.    Replay your shot from where ball was last played. (This is why it’s smart to hit a “provisional” when you’re up above — saves time.)
B.    Drop within area of 2 lateral club lengths from where your ball lies, no nearer the hole.
C.    Drop back-of-line relief from the hole through the lie of the ball.  (It may be almost impossible to find such a line on this particular hole.)
3.  Your ball is lost (1 Stroke Penalty).  Replay shot where ball was
last played. (This is why it’s smart to hit a “provisional” when you’re up above — saves time.)
 Notes:
•    When you want to declare a “provisional”, you must say those exact words.  Saying, “I’m going to hit another” doesn’t cover it.
•    You don’t need to say, “I’m taking an unplayable”, but it’s helpful so others understand what you’re doing.
•    Back-of-line relief means stand behind the ball and line up to the hole.
(In a penalty area, the back-of-line relief is different.  When your ball is in a penalty area, you stand behind the point of where the ball last crossed into the penalty area and line up to the hole.)
