General Conditions

 

Unless otherwise announced, all Men’s 18-Hole Golf Club Wednesday events and Major Tournaments will be
conducted under the following conditions:

 

• Participation is limited to current Men’s 18-Hole Golf Club members.
• Players must hold amateur status and maintain a USGA Handicap Index®.
Play the ball down and putt out on every hole.
• The 14-club rule applies.
• All scores must be posted online through the GHIN system.
Penalty for breach of local rule:
        o Match play – Loss of hole
        o Stroke play – Two strokes

 

The Views Golf Club staff supports the Men’s Club by:

 

• Setting up events in Golf Genius
• Handling registration, check-in, and (if applicable) Skins/Proxy collections
• Entering scores after play
• Managing prize money and shop credits
• Assisting with pace-of-play monitoring

Events -Tournament Registration

 

• Entry is limited and accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Members should register as early as possible - events may sell out before deadlines.
Wednesday events: Register by 8am on the Tuesday prior.
• Major tournaments: Registration dates are posted in advance, typically opening the Friday prior.

Payment Policy

 

Entry fees must be paid by credit card/credit book at registration.
Greens fees are due at check-in (season pass holders must identify themselves).
Skins/Proxy buy-ins, when offered, are paid in credit card/credit book at check-in.

Cancellations & No-Shows

 

• Cancellations after 8am Tuesday before a Wednesday event may result in a no-play penalty.
• Withdrawals after registering may result in forfeited greens and entry fees.
• Credits may be issued if cancellation occurs before tee times are posted.
• Once tee times are posted, credits are generally not offered except in cases of medical emergencies or
unusual circumstances.

• Penalties are determined jointly by the Tournament Director and Club President.

Tees

 

• Tee assignments will be determined and published before each event.

Rules of Play
 

• Events are governed by the USGA Rules of Golf.
• Specialized formats (e.g., match play, best ball) follow applicable USGA rules.
• Local rules are printed on scorecards; any modifications will be provided before each event.

Pace of Play

 

• Pace of play is set by course management and published with tournament rules.

Devices & Electronics

 

Cell phone use should not delay or disrupt play.
• Music may be played only if all players agree.
Distance measuring devices are permitted.

Inclement Weather

 

• Play may be delayed, suspended, or canceled at the discretion of course staff.
• Efforts will be made to complete the full round.
• Players should remain on-site until official updates are given.
No refunds/rollovers for delays or weather interruptions.
• Players who choose not to play in poor weather must check in to receive a golf-only rain check (per
course policy).
• Tournament and entry fees are non-refundable.

Starting Times

 

Wednesday events: Typically use shotgun starts.
Tournaments: Sequential starting times unless otherwise noted.
• Pairings are emailed and posted on Golf Genius prior to events.
• If starting times change, the Tournament Director will notify affected players.

Check-In & Starting

 

• Players must check in at least 30 minutes before start time.
• Arrive at the starting tee 10 minutes early.
• Penalties for lateness:
         o Within 5 minutes: Loss of hole (match play) or two strokes (stroke play).
         o More than 5 minutes late: Disqualification.

Formats & Flights

 

• Most tournaments are stroke play, but other formats (e.g., team play, match play) may be used.
• A Championship Flight may compete gross; other flights compete net.
• Flights are determined by the Club Board, based on field size and handicaps.
• The Handicap Chair may assign modified indexes when appropriate.

Handicaps

 

• The Club may adjust or cap handicaps for events.
• Maximum allowances:
        o 20 strokes for stroke play
        o 30 strokes for team events
• The Club may deny entry for handicap manipulation.
• Per USGA Rule 10.3e, handicaps may be reduced for major events if performance consistently exceeds
expected ability.

Scorekeeping

 

• All events use Golf Genius for scoring.
• One player should also keep a paper scorecard as backup.
• After the round, each player must review and verify scores for accuracy before submission.
• Incorrect lower hole scores result in disqualification (Rule 6-6d).
• Scoring disputes must be raised when turning in scorecards.

Prize Money

 

• A portion of entry fees funds flight prize pools, based on participation.
• Ties are broken using the USGA card match method.
• Maximum payout: $250 per player, awarded as shop credits.
• To be prize-eligible, members must have at least 5 posted 18-hole scores (or 10 nine-hole scores).

Skins & Proxies

 

• Skins competitions (typically $5 buy-in).
• Pays net, typically flighted, payouts in credit book.
• Closest-to-the-pin contests are included in some events.
        o Only first tee shots on the green are eligible.
        o Awards are given as shop credits.

Assumption of Risk & Release

 

By registering and participating, members acknowledge and assume all risks associated with golf, including
injury or health-related incidents. Participants release The Views Men’s 18-Hole Golf Club from liability and
agree to indemnify the Club against claims arising from participation.

• This Handbook is subject to revision.
• Failure to comply may result in penalties, disqualification, suspension, or expulsion.
• The online version of this Handbook always supersedes printed copies.
